Agif 3 - 0 Team

A scorching day at Sporting AGIF Stadium, where 2620 spectators were in place for today's match. Benjamin Muik was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Alain Mbia and Marin Knežević. The following players had been selected: Costa - Visona, Antern, Frecentese - Zanoli, Bolly, Pöyry, Leyden, Lopilato - Béry, Bozano.

The following players took the field: Franceschilli - Piròli, Germanà, Pietronero - Täger, Imperi, Mård, El Assal, Coquel - Sali, Shestoperov.

As the teams spread out over the pitch, it became clear that they would both be using a 3-5-2 formation today. Agif were awarded a penalty 18 minutes into the game but Jacob Antern took a poor shot, quite easily saved by Casimiro Franceschilli. After a fine move down the middle Marino Frecentese nearly put the home side one up with 34 minutes played. His final touch escaped him though and the keeper smothered the ball. The referee showed Team's Gianluca Imperi the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. Agif were very close to putting themselves one up with 37 minutes gone as Marino Frecentese got through on the left, but a lapse in concentration sent the ball wide. With 38 minutes of the match played, a comedy of errors by the home side gave the visitors a chance at the lead, but Vitaliano Sali, after dashing down on goal from the left and finding himself with only the keeper to beat, sliced his shot horribly wide. Maybe Marino Frecentese should join the aquatics team instead. He went down dramatically after 40 minutes, crying out with agony as he fell. The referee was not impressed, though, and showed him a yellow for diving. Agif could have put themselves ahead after 41 minutes but Simon Bolly mishit a volley on a ball coming in from the right. Halftime score was 0 - 0. The forty-five minutes were dominated by Agif, with an impressive 67 percent possession of the ball.

46 minutes into the game, Team wanted to bring some new energy to their game. Vitaliano Sali gave Umberto Mazzuoli a quick hug as he left the field. With Vitaliano Sali no longer on the field, Pasquale Piròli was the new set pieces taker. Making his way up the middle after 51 minutes, Jacob Antern almost managed to sneak a goal past the visitors' keeper, but Casimiro Franceschilli was ready and blocked it to keep the score level. Pasquale Piròli wasn't much help defensively. His energy-consuming forward runs proved quite costly in the oppressive heat. This was a good period for the visitors, with several opportunities to take the lead, particularly when Erik Täger slipped through the left defense to come up alone against Jesus Costa, but the home side's keeper showed his lightning-fast reflexes. The Agif free kick 65 minutes into the match seemed wasted, as the shot was both short and off target. But it was no mistake - Corantin Béry seemingly came out of nowhere and had miles of space to control the ball and pick his spot. That's 1 - 0! In minute 86, Jacob Antern put Agif ahead 2 - 0 with a tremendous free kick. Everyone had expected a shot from the free kick 87 minutes into the game, but Agif sent the ball sideways instead, giving David Bozano a clear look at goal with no wall in his way. He sent it through the keeper's legs for 3 - 0! The game was close to savage at times, and Team's Gianluca Imperi received a second yellow card after 87 minutes; his ticket to the dressing rooms. The players were tired, but when the referee announced that there would be 1 minutes of added time, they welcomed the extra opportunity to make an impact. The match ends 3 - 0. Agif set the tempo, maintaining 67 percent of possession.

The most outstanding Agif player was without a doubt Bill Leyden. Good thing Juha-Petteri Pöyry isn't a horse, because he'd surely be sent to the glue factory after that performance. Team's best player was Umberto Mazzuoli. Speaking of stinking up the place, Erik Täger sure smelled like the bottom of Batman's shoe after a night of crimefighting in Gotham.
