We’re on the march with Ally’s army

It is has been a long time since we as a nation have believed that our national team can win the world cup, and sadly this has been the same in Hattrick. Scotland has failed to get past the qualifying round of the world cup for the last five world cups.
So what can the ordinary user do about it, and can Scotland realistically challenge?

To answer the second part of the question we need only look at history, in world cup XIV when Scotland made it to the final group stage before the semi-finals, and further back to one of the earlier the world cups VI , when under the then manager Boggler Scotland finished third.
Let us off course remember that like real life we are a small nation, so we have a smaller pool of players to draw from than the large nations like Spain. But if we have dedicated managers willing to train players to the top level we can still compete.
So back to the first part of the original question, what can any Hattrick player do to make a difference? Here there are several answers and these range from the simple action of choosing who will manage the team to the action of managing the team themselves.
As we have just finished another season at the very start of next season there will be an election for a manager, it alternates each season between national team manager and U20 team manager. This year it is the national team manager.
So who can stand for National team manager, well anyone can from within the whole Hattrick community, you do not need to be a Scottish Manager. Indeed if you so wish you could stand for another nations manager.
How do you get elected, all managers from a nation can vote for their nations manager. If you truly want to get elected you should register and enter a speech during the election so everyone knows what your ideas are for the job. Your best chance would be to take that to the next stage start a thread on the national forum and answer any questions you are asked. You cannot spam other managers asking them to elect you. At present there are 1250 active members in Scotland, but the lection only usually draws about 50 votes, so if you don’t want to try your hand at being manager, have you say lets us as a nation care about who runs our national team. If we could get 100 votes this would be an achievement.
In the gap between simply electing the national team manager and being that manager lays a wealth of other possibilities, Scotland ha a database of players keep your players up to date on this is a simple task, Train a U20 or National team player, or help scouting for prospective players. Another simple activity is even when the election is complete use the national forum to keep abreast of what is happening in your nation.
The world cup final is on the 22nd of December and the election starts the day after, I hope this article has wetted your appetite for it a little.
